The Thacker Pass lithium mine will use millions of gallons of water each and every day, draining water from one of the most arid regions of the United States. We are working to prevent this mine, and the harms to the watershed this mine will cause, harms to the ground water, the surface water, and to all the beings – plant and animal – who rely on this water . #WaterIsLife.
Join us to Protect Thacker Pass. This is a long fight for the land. Stay strong!!
Legal fees and costs are mounting up, so if you feel so moved, please donate here. Thank you!
This land is gorgeously pristine. Apparently this makes it an ideal location for a lithium mine. I don’t get the logic either, but if Big Money thinks it’s a fine plan, surely it must be. After all, industries and the politicians they support prioritize, according to their hype, the health of people and their environment.
One question: Do people in the area really believe their propaganda?
No, not really. Some are against the mine, some feel like it’s inevitable so they are just going to try to get as many concessions from the mining company as they can, some need the jobs. The company has talked about paying for a new school in a region where education is seriously underfunded. Corporations know how to get people to comply with the destruction of their land in a country where everyone knows the law is on the side of the corporations, not the people (despite what the constitution says).
