The battle for Thacker Pass continues. Today a prayer run and walk began from the Yomba Shoshone Reservation. Over the next week, runners and walkers will cover 273 miles before arriving at the site of the proposed open-pit lithium mine and chemical gas processing facility on traditional Northern Paiute and Western Shoshone territory at Thacker Pass, north of Winnemucca. The story of what is happening here is getting out.

How is this different than what came before? Blow up the mountain, steal the resources, and use them to produce luxury goods for the wealthiest fraction of the global population, leaving behind poisoned water, destroyed land, #MMIW, and communities dealing with a legacy of environmental disease.

Resistance is growing from many different communities, using many different strategies, all with the same goal: stop Lithium Americas from desecrating this place for the sake of greenwashed luxury goods. If we’re going to be successful in protecting Thacker Pass, and the whole planet, we need each of you to be involved.
